Mother with child [ detail ]
on a family's burial place

The total view of this sepulchre consists of a huge tombstone with a built-in dark cross. In front of it is situated a sitting woman (as shown on the picture), who is looking down to a child, that is standing right to her. The child, for it's part, is looking up to the mother with folded hands and a very a very intense look.

The sculpture is made of white marble, but in the course of time it is quite corroded and has taken a light green tint from all the plants surrounding it. The sepulchre was created in 1895 by Engelbert Pfeiffer.

The available light at this grave is quite few and difficult, because on the one hand there's a lot of high trees, who don't allow the sunlight to come there, on the other hand the sculpture itself is surrounded by a lot of plants - and that's the reason why I don't have further satisfying photos of it at this time.
