Who am I ?

I'm German   -   male   -   born 1944

and live - once again -
since 1980 in the surrounding area of Hamburg.

Although I haven't had any kind of professional photographic training,
I consider myself an ambitious photographer !

( I originally studied the quite dry job of a mathematical-technical assistant
and worked in this field rather successfully for about 10 years ).

My wish for an occupational retraining as a photographer
unfortunately didn't fulfill -
instead I used my free time intensively
for improving my photographic abilities as a hobby-photographer
and to train my ' photographic eye ' as often as possible.

My fascination with the cemetery of Ohlsdorf,
which was rather unknown to me until this time,
developed during an excursion with the local adult education center.

It started out quite harmlessly :

I occasionally went to this cemetery -
which I found quite interesting and fascinating -
and took, just for the pleasure of photographing, only a few pictures.

But since then photographing all those statues, angels and women, etc.
has become my serious, self-appointed pet project.

I consider myself an ' nice weather ' - photographer.
My pictures - like myself - ' live ' on sunlight.
In my opinion, photos without sunlight are flavor- and colorless.

That I take exclusively color-photos is certainly apparent from my galleries.
The black-and-white photography -
which I, personally, highly admire artistically -
regretfully ( ? ) isn't ' my thing ' in any way !

In some cases, though, I had to use a flashlight
on motives that never get enough sunlight throughout the year,
either because they look straight to the north
or because they stand in the shadows of trees
or of that ever-present rhododendron.

To be continued . . .

I wish every visitor of my homepage

a blessed, peaceful Christmas

By the way :

I created the whole design and programming
of my homepage by myself.
In doing so, it was a big aid for me
having worked in this area -
and as a result, having gained a good understanding
of computers and programming them.
